Charter Schools: A Big Con or a Sensible Solution?
As an educator I can no longer sit back and see a robust state education system come under potential threat by a minority party that seems to have far too much say in matters of education and the future of our children.
I hope I am completely wrong about the concept of Charter Schools. I think that the idea that they will raise student achievement is misguided.
It is disappointing that a recently written report by our own educational academics who have studied the international research on charter schools, is not part of the planning, and the cautions articulated by the N.Z. Teachers' Council, are conveniently ignored by politicians.

Each May, Deaf Aotearoa New Zealand promotes New Zealand Sign Language Week – a celebration of one of the country’s official languages, New Zealand Sign Language (N.Z.S.L.).
T.N.I.S was lucky enough to have a number of Sign Interpreters visit classes and provide a basic lesson in sign language.
