Nineteen T.N.I.S. students participated in the Top Team Games at Birkdale Intermediate on 25 November 2011. Top Team is great fun as Birkdale Intermediate set up a range of activities and challenges for the students to complete. Students had to work together to complete courses such as carrying containers of water over hurdles and trying to run up a water slide. Points were awarded for the loudest cheer and teams walking in straight lines! Congratulations to all the students who did cheer very loudly and laughed at their water-drenched P.E. uniform.

On Friday 25 November, 24 Kapa Haka students went to Onepoto Primary School to perform in front of 20 Primary and Intermediate Schools from around the North Shore. The group performed outstandingly and the boys really shone with an amazing Haka. They all represented T.N.I.S. with pride.

Congratulations to all the athletes who attended the North Harbour Athletics' Zone Day on November 22. The event was held at the Millennium Institute with over 13 participating schools. We had fabulous weather and all of the T.N.I.S. students showed not only their sporting talent, but also their great attitude, by enthusiastically supporting their teammates.

On Friday 2 December, Water Safety Auckland came to T.N.I.S. to talk about Water Safety around beaches, pools, boating and fishing. This session was targeted to students who are new to New Zealand and in particular to International and new immigrant students. It was a great reminder, especially just before the summer holidays. Pamphlets and brochures were made available in several different languages and more information can be found at: www.watersafe.org.nz

On Friday 25 November, a group of students from New Caledonia spent the day at T.N.I.S. After a special Powhiri in the Auditorium, the students went to the Science and Food Technology Rooms where they joined T.N.I.S. students in science investigations with Mr Hughes and made Christmas truffles with Mrs Jones.

There was an overwhelming response to this year's Badminton Competition. Altogether seven boys' teams and 10 girls' teams played on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons during Term Three. Our results at the end of the competition were excellent.

Our annual Athletics' Day was held last Friday in almost perfect weather conditions. The students walked down to the Takapuna Athletics' Club and events were underway shortly after 9:30am. Students had to reach a qualifying standard in the Field Events and the 100m Sprint prior to this competition, but could enter any other track events.
The competition was fierce and four new school records were set. Congratulations to the following students:
